Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit has commenced and is due to be completed 2017, and plans to extend the neonatal unit are underway.
We provide high quality, friendly and effective community health services from multiple sites covering Walsall. Our multidisciplinary services include rapid response and homebased care, so that those with long term conditions and the frail elderly can remain in their own homes.

Infrastructure Support Manager
AfC Band 7 – Permanent, 37.5 hours p/week
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust IT Services is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate for the position of Infrastructure Support Manager. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your operational management skills within a highly complex environment.
This role is crucial to ensuring that our information systems are highly available, responsive and secure. As Infrastructure Support Manager you will be accountable for the performance of the core IT infrastructure. You will have expertise in server and data storage technologies in a virtualised environment. In-depth knowledge of communications technologies would also be advantageous.
Key duties include leading:
- Line management of technical staff
- Operational delivery and maintenance of data and voice networks and the server estate to ensure capacity, performance, resilience, security, flexibility/ adaptability and cost effectiveness
- Utilising existing IT infrastructure assets as effectively as possible
The key skill areas we are looking for are: Virtualisation (ideally VMWare), Windows Server, SAN storage, SQL server, Networks, Exchange and Active Directory.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and inspire a small team of specialist IT professionals. You will be experienced in ITIL management disciplines including Availability, Capacity, Service Continuity and Change Management. At times you will be required to work off site therefore you must have the use of your own vehicle and a full valid driving license. You will also participate in an on-call rota to provide out of hours support.
