Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit has commenced and is due to be completed 2017, and plans to extend the neonatal unit are underway.

We provide high quality, friendly and effective community health services from multiple sites covering Walsall. Our multidisciplinary services include rapid response and homebased care, so that those with long term conditions and the frail elderly can remain in their own homes.

Divisional Director of Clinical Support Services

AFC BAND 8C

37.5 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team within Women’s, Children’s Division at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. We are looking for a senior leader to play a key role in professionally leading and transforming the Support Services agenda in our Division, achieving the best possible clinical and holistic outcomes for the patients that we serve.

Our Support Services portfolio currently includes, but may expand:

  1. Pathology Services
  2. Imaging services
  3. Therapies & Dietetics
  4. Orthotics
  5. Ambulance Services
  6. Integrated Community Equipment Services

Our Clinical Services operate across three clinical Divisions and also across the Community, the successful applicant will have the political astuteness to work across the Trust, primary care, the Black Country Alliance and wider stakeholders to maximise the Clinical Support element of the Division.

Applicants will be have significant experience working with clinical support services and in particular have experience with working within one of the areas that form part of the Clinical Support portfolio and have relevant professional qualification alongside being educated to Masters Degree or working towards with extensive experience of working at a senior level. We recognise where we need to develop our services and this post enables to focus on the Clinical Support Services to maximise patient flow. We are keen to recruit someone with the dedication and commitment to support us through this journey.

You will have significant experience as a senior leader supported by strong clinical management experience. The successful applicant will have the ability to challenge positively, effectively and sensitively and you will need to have tenacity and energy to lead and deliver transformational change to ensure that our services deliver the highest quality outcomes for our patients.

We are looking for a highly motivated and suitably experienced applicant who has significant experience and exposure working in a senior role in a large division, care group or health group, currently. This post is ideal for someone with aspirations to progress to director level in the future. More fundamentally, this role brings with it the requirement to lead and develop patient care.
